The Learning Environment
At Greenmount Preschool we plan and provide quality learning experiences indoors and outdoors and these are tailored to children’s interests and developmental needs. We ensure every child has the opportunity to take part by inviting them to participate, repeating the activity and differentiating to provide greater support or challenge for individual children.
We provide a stimulating and challenging environment that supports children’s learning and development.
We have two Preschool rooms with a variety of learning bays for the children to choose from, including…
- Communication, Language and Literacy area with mark making opportunities
- Mathematics area
- Knowledge and Understanding of the world area
- A Home Corner
- Construction area
- Creative area
- Music area
- Computer area
- Small world area
- A cosy den area with books
One part of the main preschool room is used for messy play and planned or child initiated creative experiences and sand and water play. We have a separate area for food preparation, which includes a washing up bay for the children to wash up their own snack time cups and bowls.
We have a large outside area. Some of these areas are sheltered.
Preschool staff support and join in with children’s play inside and out to enable positive experiences and to develop confidence. We firmly believe in a balance at Preschool, between keeping children safe and protected and encouraging independence and exploration. We encourage and allow children to take appropriate risks within a safe environment.
