Year 6 – Whiteread – Miss Joyce
Welcome to Whiteread’s class page. We hope that you will find all the important information you need to know to help make your child’s time in our class as enriching as possible. Please check this page on a regular basis as there will be an opportunity to see what is going on in the class and there will be some useful tips and guidance to help the children gain the most from their last year at Greenmount. We will also be using this page to share some of the fantastic work that the children produce over the next year.
The class will have two hours of PE a week. These sessions will be on Monday afternoon and Friday morning. One of the sessions will be taken by Mr Harris, the specialist sports coach. Please make sure that the correct PE kit is in school during these times.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could support your child with reading daily and practising their times-tables at home. Please ensure children have completed homework to a high standard.
This term (Spring), we are looking at the Ancient Greeks and Survival within our topics. Throughout science we will be identifying different parts of our bodies as well as our circulatory system. Remember to test our knowledge!
So far . . .
We have visited the D-Day museum. We looked at some interesting artefacts which were from WWII. Although it rained for most of the day, it didn’t bother us! We were able to look around the museum, the tapestry and took part in a workshop. Take a look at our photos. In class we re-enacted an air raid just like they would have had in WWII. We then became reporters and questioned each other about our experiences. Please ask us about which song we have been singing!
Just before Christmas, we visited Chichester theatre and watched The Wizard of Oz!
