This Week in Year 5…
We have begun to explore a new book called ‘Shackleton’s Journey’. So far children have made predictions based on the front cover, have been exploring what Shackleton was like and also made a list of the different qualities you would need to join his crew.
In Maths, Ayres Class have started to look at equivalent fractions. In Hockney Class, we have been looking at short division using the bus stop method. Children have been solving a range of different division problems by using their knowledge of times tables to help them.
Both classes have also started to explore the difference between ‘The Arctic and The Antarctic’. They have continued to look at Mental Arithmetic, whilst in PE they have been exploring the rules of basketball and applying these skills to different passing and moving games.
