This week in Year 3…

This week, Year 3 have been looking at how people would have foraged for food during the Stone Age. Year 3 had an enjoyable trip to Dame Anthony’s Common where we were able to gather blackberries and observe the local flora and fauna. Well done children, what a fabulous trip we had—a super preparation for our forthcoming visit to Stonehenge. To continue the Stone Age theme; in English the children have been studying the novel ‘Stig of the Dump’ here they have scrutinised the text before recreating  ‘Stig’s Cave’ using shading techniques and pencil colours. In maths, children have been using their place value skills to order numbers in both ascending and descending order. Pupils have also revisited writing their numbers  in digits as well as in words, finishing the week by finding 10/100 more/less than a given number. In Science, we have been looking at ‘Animals including Humans’ and discussed what contributes to a healthy diet. Morris class also enjoyed their first visit to the Waterside Pool and their first swimming session was to assess the skills that they may already possess.

Well done children you have all had a very busy and productive week!
