Rugby Ready Training
On Wednesday 27 February on a bright sunny afternoon 10 boys from year 5 attended a Rugby Ready Training event at Ryde School. The afternoon consisted of a series of activities designed to prepare the players for contact rugby followed by some games to put the skills into practice.
The activities were a combination of hitting tackle pads and tackle bags followed by passing or try scoring. There was also one full contact tackling activity designed to really test out those tackling skills fully before entering into the games.
Our boys really enjoyed the session and soon adapted to the physicality of full contact rugby and the transition from tag. All came away with a bruise or 2 but also with big smiles and many expressed an interest in playing contact rugby at Vectis Rugby Club.
Isaac Hutchinson was chosen as one of the players who impressed the coaches and all of our players conducted themselves well and showed great courage and perseverance throughout the afternoon.
