Greenmount V Carisbrooke U10 Football

Greenmount played a double header match on Monday 14/1 to decide both our league and cup fixtures.
Game 1 League.
This started as a cagey affair with  both teams having attacks snuffed out by the respective defences. Greenmount forged attacks but were unable to find the clinical pass to release the striker in front of goal. It was Carisbrooke who then started to dominate the pace of the game and they started to pound the Greenmount goal. Game 2 Cup.
After a discussion in the break the players identified how they could improve upon their performance and try to win the second game. But so had Carisbrooke who came out all guns blazing and scored in the first minute. This seemed to galvanise our players who then really started to compete and take the game to the opposition. Some strong tackling. great goal keeping saves and resolute defending kept out the lively Carisbrooke attackers out until the pressure told and they bundled the ball home from a throw in. A third goal followed before Greenmount set up an attack from which Tyler finished with a volley to make the final score Greenmount 1-3 Carisbrooke.
” A much better performance in the second game against a very strong Carisbrooke team who are the current league and cup winners from last years competition. There were some great moments where we competed well and looked to play forward. As our young players develop the experience gained playing for teams at the weekends really starts to effect the games and determine results. Carisbrooke had a team who all play out of school and this made the difference today. Well played to all of our players who never gave up and continued to compete until the final whistle!”
