U11 Girls Football Cup
On a sunny Friday afternoon with the throngs of the school disco drifting across the Greenmount football pitch we hosted Queensgate in the U11 Girls football cup.
Greenmount stated brightly and pressured Queensgate from the off. It wasn’t very long until we took the lead through a goal scored by Isla following a through ball by Hettie 1-0 . With Greenmount dominating the play a second goal soon followed with Ray and Hettie linking well in midfield and Isla popping up in front of goal to score her second 2-0.
With Eliza and Brooke buzzing around disrupting Queensgate play we put pressure on their defence and following a poor clearance Hettie scored a fantastic goal from the edge of the area with a well struck volley 3-0.
Isla then scored her hat trick just before half time to give Greenmount a well deserved lead.
HT Greenmount 4-0 Queensgate.
In the second half Greenmount took their foot off the pedal a little and settled down to play some good football but without scoring anymore goals. Queensgate defended well and did mount some attacks but Sophia and Charlotte were always on hand to thwart these and if the defence was breached Evie was there to keep a clean sheet as GK.
FT Greenmount 4-0 Queensgate.
” This was such an entertaining game and I was enjoying it so much that I almost forgot to check the stopwatch and blow for full time!!!”
Well done to all of the girls who played today. To be fair to all of our players we will keep the same team for the next cup match and play the girls who were injured or could not play today for the other league games, should they be fit to play. It is magnificent to see so many girls looking to be involved in football at school. If anyone is looking for a team to join. Oakfield Youth FC have a thriving girls coaching set up. Please ask Mr Harris for information.
