U11 Football – Boys
Our U11 boys team travelled the short distance to Ryde School on Wednesday 15/11 to play in the cup.
Ryde proved to be tough opponents and we had to be at our best for this game. In the fist half it was an even game with both teams having to defend and we were kept in the game by some great Mateus Lamb saves. It was Greenmount who broke the stalemate with a thunderous header from Lennon Williams following a Charlie Hayward cross. HT 0-1
In the second half we started to take hold of the game more and created more chances but it was Ryde who scored next following a move down the left which left us open at the back.
The game went into extra time which again saw both teams create chances and both defences were kept busy. But Callum Rouse and Zach McShane were solid for us at the back. A great pinpoint cross field ball from Charlie found Jack Herbert whose clever pass found Lennon who stroked the ball home to put us in the lead. With Ollie Lacey holding the midfield and Kodi West and Finley Reed causing problems in attack we saw the game out to win 1-2.
“This was a tough game and our team had to show resilience to grind out the win. A very pleasing afternoon ! ”
