The class will have two hours of PE a week. These sessions will be on Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon. One of the sessions will be taken by Mr Harris the specialist sports coach. Please make sure that the correct PE kit is in school during these times.
Spelling and Homework
Each child will receive up to 8 spellings to learn each week. These will be placed in homework books each Thursday. The children will then be ‘quized’ the following week. Please help your child to practice these regularly, both in isolation and within a sentence.
Homework will be set weekly alongside the children’s regular reading and spelling practice. These tasks will usually be mathematical and involve either a game or practical activity based upon the weeks learning.
This half term the children will be learning about homes and materials. To view the overview and see what aspects of the curriculum we will be covering click on the link below.

Sending Letters by Balloon
Year 2 have been looking at how we can send letters and postcards to convey our thoughts, ideas and feelings to people that live in a different place from us. The children were enthused to write as we were going to send our letters in a very unusual way – By helium balloon! This meant that our audience was unknown so our letters had to include all the vital features if we were to receive a reply. Here are a few photographs to show the launch!
We were amazed to receive a reply from our helium balloon letters! We had almost given up all hope but our patience has paid off! The letter came from 450 miles away in a small village south of Paris in France! Here is the letter we received.
