Welcome to Year Five
Picasso Class – Mr Silk
Welcome to Picasso’s class page. Here you will find helpful information specific to Picasso class as well as more general information relevant for Year 5 and Key Stage 2.
As this is the penultimate year of your primary school experience, the year 5 team will be working hard to make sure you are adequately equipped with all the knowledge you need to be ready for your final year at Greenmount and beyond.
Mr Silk – Class Teacher
Miss Wheatley – Teaching Assistant
Mrs Stanford – Special Needs Assistant (mornings)
Mrs Peek – Special Needs Assistant (afternoons)
Picasso has P.E. twice a week on Tuesday morning (run by the sports coach Mr Harris) and Thursday afternoon. Please make sure you have all of the required P.E kit and appropriate footwear on those days.
Sent out – Thursday
Due in – Tuesday
Homework is set every week on a Thursday and is due in on Tuesday, giving you 5 days to practise spellings, read your reading book and practise your times tables, as well as completing the weekly maths challenge (either bronze, silver or gold). Between Tuesday and Thursday it is still important to be practising your reading and times table skills even if your homework book is at school.
Occasionally, there may be the need to bring in an item to or prepare something for an upcoming event or reflect upon a past event at home.
By the end of year 6 you should be able to spell and understand these words in the link below but we will be immersing you in them throughout this year to give you the best possible foundation for next year.
Below are some pictures from our recent trip to Osborne House. We are training to be Victorian servants for the queen with roles such as boot and brass polishing, bed-making and table laying. All with strict discipline enforced, of course!
