Weekly things to remember & general information
Reading books: Please ensure your child’s reading book and reading record are kept in their book bag every day. It is vital to add a comment in their reading record to let us know they have read the book and to help us support their early reading development. We encourage the children to read daily to build up their confidence to create their own stories using the pictures and segment and blend sounds. Reading books will be changed on the following days once we can see they have been shared:
YELLOW – Tuesday
GREEN – Wednesday
BLUE – Thursday
Please ensure all PE Kit and school uniform is clearly labelled with your child’s name. Also try to practise with your child getting changed and dressed to aid their independence.
Library Time: Monday.
Please keep your library book in your child’s book bag every day. Library books are only changed on a Monday. The children thoroughly enjoy borrow and choosing their own books to share with you. This is a valuable experience to develop their love of reading.
Autumn term: We begin promoting daily reading and retelling stories using picture books. The children use the pictures to develop their own stories and build up their imagination. As well as their love for books.
Spring term: Every child will receive a homework pack containing resources and ideas of learning opportunities at home. This will include sound cards so children can begin practising their phonics and building CVC words.
Summer term: The children will be set challenges through tapestry so we can see their learning and experiences at home.
Useful learning websites to support learning at home:
Tapestry: Every Parent/carer will have their own login to see their child’s tapestry account. Please see your child’s teacher if you have any questions regarding tapestry. We highly value your contributions to tapestry.
